The plaintiff was a 48-year-old Bronx women employed as an educational advocate. She went to North Central Bronx Hospital in 2006 for hysterectomy surgery. She suffered an injury to the bladder that resulted in bleeding and leaking urine. A vesico-vaginal fistula was diagnosed and she had two repair surgeries.
Bronx Lebanon Hospital is a publicly owned hospital owned by the City of New York and run by the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation.
